๐ Expert Advice
Not typically grown from seed in cultivation; propagate by division. Divide overcrowded clumps during active growth (ideally spring to early summer). Remove the plant from the pot, split the rhizomatous crown into sections with several leaves and healthy roots, then pot divisions into a loose, moisture-retentive but well-aerated medium. Keep warm (about typical indoor temperatures), evenly moist (not waterlogged), and in bright, indirect light until re-established.
Not usually needed. If grown in low light or with heavy inflorescences causing leaning, use a discreet stake to support the flower stalks; avoid tying tightly against the petioles.
Do not prepare teas/infusions from peace lily. Spathiphyllum tissues contain calcium oxalate crystals and are considered unsafe to ingest; infusion use is not supported by reputable sources.
Remove yellowing/damaged leaves at the base; cut spent flower stalks (spadix/spathe) back to the crown to encourage new growth.
