Use a fast-draining succulent mix (or heavily amend the potting soil with gravel, perlite or pumice). Choose a pot with drainage holes; avoid mixes that retain water and pots that are too large. Let the mix dry out almost completely between waterings to reduce the risk of rhizome and root rot.

Feed lightly during active growth only (spring-summer), at a rate of 1/4-1/2 of the dose, once a month at most. Do not fertilize in winter or if the plant is stressed/dry; excess fertilizer can cause poor growth and salt build-up (rinse the pot from time to time).

Generally not necessary. In low-light conditions, leaves may elongate and tilt; stabilize by grouping divisions tightly together in the pot or using a discreet stake only if plants tip over.

Remove damaged or browned leaves at the base. Avoid cutting off leaf tips for aesthetic reasons (leaves don't grow back from the cut end); use clean cuts and reserve healthy sections for propagation if necessary.
