Use a loose, moisture-retentive but well-draining tropical mix: peat/coconut fiber-based potting soil amended with perlite and/or sphagnum moss. Aim for an airy structure that holds even moisture without staying waterlogged; ensure the container has drainage holes.

Seed sowing is uncommon in cultivation; propagation is typically by division or stem cuttings. Divide clumps during active growth (spring to summer), ensuring each division has roots and several shoots, and pot into a warm, airy, moisture-retentive mix. Stem cuttings with 1–2 nodes can be rooted in water or directly in mix; keep evenly moist, warm, and in high humidity with bright, indirect light.

Feed lightly during active growth (spring–summer) with a diluted liquid houseplant fertilizer (about 1/4–1/2 strength) every 2–4 weeks. Reduce or stop feeding in autumn–winter, and periodically flush the pot with water to limit fertilizer-salt buildup.

Indoors, use a thin top-dress layer (e.g., fine bark or clay pellets) only to reduce surface evaporation and stabilize moisture; keep mulch away from direct contact with stems/crowns to reduce rot risk.

No staking is normally needed. If stems become long or trail, pinch back to encourage bushier growth, or let stems drape over the pot edge; you can also gently peg stems onto the potting mix to encourage rooting at nodes.

Remove yellowing or damaged leaves at the base. Pinch or trim leggy stems just above a node to promote branching; light shaping can be done anytime, best in spring/summer.
