Weekly update - 16 to 23rd of March
Résumé: Aphylia’s March 16–23 update covers encyclopedia improvements, a new vegetables category, discovery algorithm point system, a guided beginner garden plan, and newly added plants like tomatoes, basil, and aloe vera.

What happened this week in the Aphylia team?

First we are working on a small surprise for next month… It is taking a lot of our time but we can’t yet reveal what it is ! But we hope you will like it, just be patient !

Encyclopedia / Plant Info

This week continued structuring and enriching the encyclopedia. Hopefully we will soon reach a perfect state for our encyclopedia.

First, we have decided to focus our categories in six main ones :

Of course, if you are looking for something more precise, you still have the possibility by selecting advanced.

We have also added a category vegetables.

When it comes to information on the plant information pages, you can now find rhizomes as one of the plant parts.

Also, we are aware that some plant pages can miss some pictures, that’s why we have added a tag on our plant report channel on discord named “missing picture”. Create a post, name the plant and add this tag, and we will be working on correcting that as soon as possible.

Discovery

For weeks we have debated how to code the discovery algorythm so the plants that are shown to you are pertinent but also new. We have eventually decided to base our algorythm on a point system. Points are given or removed depending of your preferences.

Beginner Garden

Another project we have been working on is a “beginner garden”. A type of garden where the user would be guided through every steps of creating its garden. To prepare this new feature, we have added a “to do” section on the website. Stay tune to learn more about this upcoming idea!

This week the list of Bugs corrected is quite short :

  • Added more effective code to Alert Event

  • Plants in Category are different on each Category

And finally, here is the list of new plants :
