Weekly Update : 20th to 27th April
Summary: Aphylia’s April 20–27 update brings a mobile UI polish, fixed foreground push notifications, clearer dashboard errors, a resolved DNS/nginx outage, and improved GDPR deletion/export handling.

Hello dear gardener, here we are for another post celebrating new updates !

A Cozier, Calmer Aphylia: Mobile Glow-Ups, Soft Privacy & A Few Fresh Leaves

Aphylia spent the week tidying her edges, smoothing her details, and growing a little more grown-up. Think of it as her spring polish: nothing dramatic, just a hundred small touches that make the whole app gentler to live with.

A mobile glow-up worth flicking through

If you've been opening Aphylia on your phone lately, you've probably already noticed her sitting up a little straighter. The Android app and the phone-size web look the way they always should have looked.

That odd little green flash on startup? Tucked away. Headers slipping under the phone's clock? Politely repositioned. The Discovery card hiding behind the bottom nav, just out of reach? Lifted neatly into view. The auth icons that played hide-and-seek on Android? Front and centre. The Scan page used to greet you with two confusing buttons; now it's a single, friendly tap.

Even the smaller things were sweet to watch fall into place: the encyclopedia cards now line up beautifully, the colour palette tooltips on plant pages no longer get cropped, and the Garden Journal's privacy toggles dropped their wordy descriptions in favour of a clean little Private / Shared. Tiny details β€” but together, they turn opening the app from "functional" into something that just feels nicer.

Quiet wins that make the whole thing feel calmer

A few smaller stories deserve a little spotlight too.

Push notifications used to slip away if the app was already open β€” now they land where they should, a soft little nudge at the right moment. The Garden Dashboard, which once whispered the cryptic "object Object" on a bad day, finally speaks in real human language when something goes sideways. And on Wednesday morning, a brief server hiccup β€” a tiny DNS sneeze β€” was caught, calmed, and put back to bed.

And for our Android friends: the official APK (version 6.4.18) is now waiting for you on GitHub. A real native install, with proper haptic feedback, ready whenever you'd like to bring Aphylia closer to your home screen.

Bug Corrections

  • Fix ~8h45 production outage from nginx refusing to restart after a DNS hiccup during apt auto-upgrade

  • Fix mobile / Capacitor UI polish β€” status-bar overlap, swipe card clipping, auth icons, sticky bars, startup green flash

  • Fix Garden dashboard showing "[object Object]" instead of a readable error message

  • Fix native push notifications silently dropped when the app is in the foreground

  • Fix GDPR account deletion and export leaving garden plant images and admin media upload PII behind

See you next week !
